Ancient
marriage ceremony is depicted in this poem. Food with lamb fry was served to
guests invited for the marriage ceremony. After the feast they erected the pillar
to make new thatched shed for the function. They watched bird-omen for the
purpose. That day of ceremony the climate favors. It is the full-moon day which
was believed the Moon God got his Goddess Urogini’s union. The marriage
ceremony was performed with band music. Elders hailed the wedding couples in
person before they took leave.
The hero
says: I garlanded her that was made joining with three flower materials, Vagai
flower, Arugam grass and Mullai flowers. The ceremonial stage is filled with
new wed sand. She was sweat during the ceremony. After removing her sweat,
elderly women gave her to me for the first-night.
I removed
her dress saying; please let your thigh to dry sweating in the wind. She glimmered
as a sward removed from its cover. She bends her head in shame hiding her bar-body
in her hairs-in-head.
