Love poem Kurunthogai # 309

You, man of great, in your village, though the weeding persons in the field weed away the beetle-feeding water lily [image – water lily in pond] and throwing them on the bank of the field to dry its fragrant into the soil, the flowers do not think to migrate. As the water lily in your field I am what you may do pinning upon me I am always depending upon you only.

Author of the poem is SALLIYAN KUMA:RAN of Uraiyur village
2nd century B.C.
