ஒன்றேன் அல்லேன்; ஒன்றுவென்; குன்றத்துப்

பொருகளிறு மிதித்த நெரிதாள் வேங்கை

குறவர் மகளிர் கூந்தற் பெய்ம்மார்,

நின்று கொய மலரும் நாடனொடு

ஒன்றேன் தோழி! ஒன்றினானே,

வரை விடை, ''ஆற்றல் வேண்டும்'' என்ற தோழிக்குக் கிழத்தி உரைத்தது

குன்றத்து யானை ஒடித்து மிதித்த வேங்கை மரம் குறவர் மகளிர் கூந்தலில் சூடிக்கொள்வதற்காக நின்றுகொண்டே பறித்துக்கொள்ளுமாறு மலர்ந்திருக்கும் நாடன் மனத்தோடு நான் ஒன்றினாலும் மணம் செய்துகொண்டு ஒன்றும் வாய்ப்பு கிட்டவில்லையே, தோழி.
