He tried to get her mate through a mediator her friend-maid that ends in failure. Then he ponders a new way to get her as his life partner. The Palmyra Horse, a customary approach stands in his mind and says these words.

A Horse is made by tying Palmyra broad leaves with stems along ringing bells. He rides on it that is pulled along by his friends. He will wear garland made of broken bones. Without shame he will ride along the street where his lover resides uttering her name. He will never bother on other’s ridicule on his behavior. (The village people mediate to get her married)

Hence the poet’s name has a title MADAL PADIYA i.e. who sang Palmyra Horse

182. குறிஞ்சி

விழுத் தலைப் பெண்ணை விளையல் மா மடல்

மணி அணி பெருந் தார் மரபிற் பூட்டி,

வெள் என்பு அணிந்து, பிறர் எள்ளத் தோன்றி,

ஒரு நாள் மருங்கில் பெரு நாண் நீங்கி,

தெருவின் இயலவும் தருவதுகொல்லோ-

கலிழ் கவின் அசைநடைப் பேதை

மெலிந்திலள்; நாம் விடற்கு அமைந்த தூதே?

தோழியால் குறை மறுக்கப்பட்ட தலைமகன் தன் நெஞ்சிற்கு உரைத்தது.

மடல் பாடிய மாதங்கீரன் பாடல்

அவளை அவன் பெற தோழி இடம் தரவில்லை. எனவே மடலூர்ந்து அவளைப் பெற அவன் திட்டமிடுகிறான்.

பெரிய பனைமரத்தில் முதிர்ந்த பெரிய மடல். 

அதனால் செய்த குதிரை. 

கழுத்தில் மணி கோத்த மாலை. 

அத்துடன் எலும்பு மாலை. 

இப்படி மடல்-மா ஏறி, 

நாணத்தை விட்டுவிட்டு, 

பிறர் எள்ளி நகையாடும்படி, 

தெருவில் செஎல்லவேண்டிய நிலைமையும் வருமோ என எண்ணுகிறான். 

அழகு தவழும் அந்தப் பேதைப் பெண்ணுக்கு 

அனுப்பிய தோழி தூது செல்லுபடி ஆகவில்லையே என்கிறான்.
