Male and female birds ANTRIL chatter their love feelings at mid-night.

The male bird has fleshy-growth or crest red in color.

The female one has the peck as that of a fish IRAAL.

They live in nest built on branches of trees (here THADA tree).

The music of chattering birds makes lonely female lover pinning.

Her friend maid consoled her saying that he will come soon.

The offended her saying “He is not with me in this juncture; how would you infer such a conclusion?”

160. குறிஞ்சி

நெருப்பின் அன்ன செந்தலை அன்றில்

இறவின் அன்ன கொடு வாய்ப் பெடையொடு,

தடவின் ஓங்கு சினைக் கட்சியில், பிரிந்தோர்

கையற நரலும் நள்ளென் யாமத்துப்

பெருந் தண் வாடையும் வாரார்;

இஃதோ தோழி! நம் காதலர் வரவே?

வரைவு நீட்டிப்ப ஆற்றாளாகிய தலைமகளை நோக்கி,

தோழி,

''வரைவர்'' என ஆற்றுவிப்புழி,

தலைமகள் கூறியது.

மதுரை மருதன் இளநாகன் பாடல்

ஆண் அன்றில் பறவையின் தலை சிவப்பாக நெருப்பு நிறத்தில் இருக்கும். பெண் அன்றிலின் வாய் இறால்மீன் போல இருக்கும். அன்றிலின் ஆணும் பெண்ணும் தடா என்னும் மரத்தின் உயர்ந்த மரக்கிளையில் கட்டியிருக்கும் தன் கூட்டில் இருந்துகொண்டு ஒன்றோடொன்று நள்ளிரவில் பேசிக்கொள்ளும். அவை நரலும் இந்த ஒலி காதலனைப் பிரிந்திருப்போரைச் சாகடிப்பது போல் இருக்கும். இந்த நேரத்திலும் அவர் வரவில்லை. இதுதானா அவர் வரவு?
