Natrinai 187

She thinks about his relation
Flower water lily is shutting its petals. It is the time of evening the shadow grows long towards eastern direction. The littoral land starts sleeping. The chariot of my lover (Konkan) is disappearing from my sight dumping its bell sound. I worship his chariot. He delights me in the natural park. When we are enjoying he wears garland made of fresh flowers bees humming round for honey. He also wears glimmering jewel on his neck. This park where I and he enjoyed also begins to sleep. But I am not in sleep. The heroine says these words to her friend-maid.

Poet: Auvaiyar
Poem belongs to 2nd century B.C.
