Agananuru 31

kite in nest with young once

This is a scene in clandestine love. Hero goes earning in a distant place beyond the boundary of three-Tamil-kings where the people are speaking the language other than Tamil. This news spreading all over the village falls on the ears of the heroine lady. She shares the news with her friend-maid.
Sun raises red in color and makes trees dry. Animals are also dying by the attack of heat. There was no rain.
Kite has its young in its nest on the branches of Ya-tree which also seems without leaves.
The people of that area are living by hunting passersby killing to die. The kite eats the flesh of the dead man and carries the dead-body’s eye to its young to feed. Such a dreadful area, it is.

A poem by: Ma-Mulanar
The text is belongs to second century B.C. or earlier.
