Natrinai 262

The man blames his decision leaving his lover to earn in a distant place. Flower Karuvilai like the eye in feather of a peacock swings in northern wind in chillness. She, his lover is in pain pondering him while he is not with her. She is in her appealing complexion in her shoulder and flowers in her braided hair. She opens her mouth in sweet words. “You, my mind”, the man says, “I am to leave her on earning”. This decision shows how the poverty affects a man.

Poet:  PeruntalaiChattanar
This is a poem of second century B.C.
