A Goddess of Sea
You, a girl of alluring beauty, are not playing with your friends. You are not making leaves-dress with water lily flowers in the lagoon, to wear upon your usual dress. You are standing alone in the littoral land. Who are you? I pray you. I ask you in a mood. Are you the Goddess of sea? Are you standing here leaving the sea? Please open by word of mouth. The Man pleaded her in this way. Her answer is a mere smile appearing her teeth like thorns. Happy tears move in her eyes.

Poet: Parayanar
Poem belongs to 2nd century B.C.
